The gospel looks like …
In the hymn The church is wherever God’s people are praising, the gospel conveys joy and comfort.
The Church is wherever God’s people are … conveying the Gospel, its joy and its comfort
What does “conveying the gospel” look like?
What does the “joy” of gospel look like?
What does the “comfort” of gospel look like?
Reflect
Do I convey the gospel in the way I lead my life:
- think about needs of my own and others,
- act in the subconscious,
- decide my priorities,
- demonstrate sacrificial love?
Joy is a combination of prolonged “happiness” which is more “satisfied gladness” than “happy clappy smiling dancing laughing”. Joy:
- cuts through problems, opportunities and challenges, and
- permeates different relationships, situations and change of contexts.
What does my joy look like?
Joy is one of the Fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-26, also see similar blogs). Being with Christ develops such fruits.
Does my relationship with others bring about comfort of the gospel in others?
Comfort sounds like a physical and mental condition. We are free from war, persecution and hardship; all the more, what we have and say comes from a seed of rest within us. Rather than a seed of unrest, which can convey continuous search for satisfaction,
Jesus is our satisfaction, he is the living water, he is the way, the truth and the life. That is central to conveying the gospel: joy and comfort.
