During the reconstruction, access for the Scout group to their room will be severely restricted. We should find out more about details – perhaps the workers can allow access for a day a week for the Scout group. The project manager can get feedback very soon so Scout activities are not affected.
Construction will start in a month.
Another uncertainty is raised by someone who has been assisting with the garden for some time, and her concern was that the impression is that much of the garden will not be accessible and so it will not be maintained. The project manager motioned if the gardener had concerns or queries, and so he said his concern was that the access to the back of building will not be available during the construction work, whether to maintain the back of the building, services at the back, or the garden.
Further feedback from hirers show that they are happy to continue using our halls along with the use of the kitchen, and everyone is excited about the prospect of using the new kitchen. A hirer said although his group does not need the kitchen, improving the kitchen facilities is a major project and shows the church takes hall hiring very seriously to contribute positively to all the communities.
A lot of thinking, discussion, consultation and planning had been done. It’s time for the action, about to start in weeks.
Feedback from the floor specialist said they will find us the contact for another supplier who can provide floors that match closely with the existing floor material in the adjacent hallway and main hall, which this specialist is unable to do. We then discussed about balance of design and the project agreed to take proposals from the various suppliers so that at the next meeting we can decide on the design of the floor, windows, doors and walls. Because orders for the doors had already been placed, the project manager will urgently deal with this to see best way forward.
A report was due for electricity supply and is incomplete for reporting at the meeting; but we have some update, that installation of a switchboard will be straightforward since a number of positions are available and there is space in each option.
There is a lot achieved in this meeting, but also a lot still to do. It is going in the right direction.
