Rulers don’t rule. They give a factual declaration, the result is yes or no. The interpretation is up to us.
Does the “all night” in Leviticus 6:8-9 suggest our worship ought to take so much precedence in our individual and corporate church lives as to last the night, or half a day? Perhaps we can do 24 hours if can afford it?
One interpretation of the “all night” is for a very pragmatic reason. By convention people in the days of Leviticus would offer sacrifices during the day – not during the night, and not likely morning or evening. A probable basis for the “all night” is to administer the offering over the fire portion by portion, instead of all in one go. This will help keep the fire going.
We could well read too much into this, and we can also over-spiritualise it, or liturgise it so much as to, simply a parallel analogy, treat a means to assist in worship (eg piano) as an important liturgical requirement (eg piano is required to worship God).
