We are social people. Each of us has so much we can take with respect to our social scale. Some of us prefer more time to ourselves, others prefer more times with familiar and loved ones, while others enjoy making new friends. No matter what, we have our circle of friends and loved ones.
There are also individuals we can count on, they will listen to us, they will give us advice, we will seek them out whatever and whenever in times when we are in very difficult situation.
When I was given a notice at work that I would serve “garden leave” the following month, the first person I called, I did not need to think whether it was good choice and good time to call. I called, explained the situation, poured out my concern. The person I called could not speak much then as it was a busy time. We got talking in the evening when we were more at ease. The situation about my notice had not changed. But sharing it with a loved one was an incredible privilege.
God is the only one who is always available to you. In joy or pain. You call on him, he is always available. It’s not that some people choose not to come back to you, sometimes they are literally not available.
God is gracious. He is the only one who will take the blame for you to ease your pain. Well, the New Testament records that he died for all of us so that we need not pay a price that is infinitely beyond our means, in order that we can resume 24×7 link and communication with God.
As such, it’s up to us to call on God. Jesus has done the work to restore us to God. All he has from God is grace and peace. If you call on God in your difficult time, hugely challenging situation, he will be gracious to you and you feel peace, his peace.
I need you, God, every hour, please stay near by, temptations lose their power when you are near.
I need you, O I really need you, every hour every second! O bless me now, my Saviour, I call on you.
I need you, God, every hour; teach me your will, and your rich promises in me fulfill.
If the lyrics are familiar, they are from I Need Thee Every Hour.
