Crisis - creativity (of God)

We were all in the same position during stay-at-home / lockdown periods: no one went to church, not a bit, not for weeks. Not just church, any church-related activities.

Whether you are regulars or only attend at special or rare occasions, it was the same. We stopped going to church.

Wasn’t this funny. There would be moments we felt we need a kind of spiritual spoken-to; we remembered we got that kind of speech and those phrases with God and blessings and all that. While they looked at you wishing you to attend more regularly, now they even didn’t attend church themselves!

When all distractions were removed, when we couldn’t leave our lodgings for days, when we could not even meet friends and family, it felt like the days were drawing to an end. And this was the time we turned our mind and spirit to those moments we heard those Godly words, often in church.

We were largely still “intact”, in one piece. We were not physically or emotionally wounded. We were still in the usual capacity to use our mind.

It was funny that such a situation led many to think more about God. Maybe search Bible passages, even search for online recordings of church services or worship singing. Some even tracked down online services broadcast live on Zoom, Facebook or similar.

Science might be a body of natural truths, but if humans have not ‘connected’ with the truth, we could not find a cure.

This was a period of great uncertainty. It was a long period of delayed crisis played out. You might have caught the virus but you wouldn’t know until a week later, and even so, it might take another week for you to get the results of the test. By then, you might have been in intensive care for a few days, or completely come out of the symptoms with no illness to speak of.

No one denies that science in this case is incapable of finding a solution, yet. We do get the point that science is a matter of human thinking. Science might be a body of natural truths, but if humans have not “connected” with the truth, we could not find a cure. It’s no point blaming science, or humans. It feels like we are out of step with something such that the virus came timely but the cure was not timely.

As we gradually move out of stay-at-home or lockdown, you will have many moments when you decide to maintain social distance and spend considerable time at home, either alone or with family. God is faithful. He is beyond time and space. He is truth himself. He is not just loving, he is love.

As you look back, it might bring a smile on your face in such period of crisis, God made steps to reach out to you, and it was glad you turned to him. Pray that the journey to continue with God as your guide, father and saviour.
